Where to go for village tour in Lombok?

Hi,
I will stay 4 nights in Lombok with my girlfreind in about 2 weeks from now.
We are lookong for a place to stay where we can visit villages and have hikes.
on our last day we would like to relax at a a nice beach.
if possible not south lombok, since we heard it is not very safe.we don't want to worry about this stuff.

any suggestions? we like to have a nice appartment/bungalow to use as a base and start our visits to the villages and the hikes from there.
