Loren,
You should try this before leaving for Bali to get Gemma's attention.
If that doesn't work, while you are in Bali, visit Gemma to get the instructions - I will pay for one way taxi fare.
I am next in line to ask her for instructions on how to post photos as part of my replies here. I cannot figure out how "Host and image" and "Image" works. Every time I click one of these, it asks for an URL. I have my photos on a drive or on my desk top and there is no URL for it

The issue with forums allowing photos to be attached to postings is that is starts to use up a fair bit of storage space, so perhaps the hosts of this free forum have restricted the ability to upload photos. Just a guess. By providing an URL link it means you have to put your photos in an album like Webshots and then link to that - I recall you used to have a Webshots account Josi as you sent me links to the kids at Aik Bukak a couple of years back.

Karen,
I am following your advice. Let me know if you are able to view a newly created album "Lombok by Josi" in Webshots.

Ok, call me dumb, but where did you put the link Josi? You should be able to paste a URL link to your album.

Does this look familiar Josi?
To post a photo from your webshots album -
To the right of your photo there is a box with different options in it. Click on LINK TO IT in the top left hand corner.
That will bring up another box. In the top line there are boxes to select what size you want to post the photo. This is 425 but there are smaller and larger. Select the size you want.
Copy the code in the bottom line POST IN A FORUM
Paste it into your post. You might want to preview your post first to make sure the photo has come across okay.
Good luck.

Click on "Lombok by Josi" in my posting which will take you to Webshots. (I will post some detailed instructions next time)
Then in the "Search" box, type in "Lombok by Josi" which will take you to my entire album. One of the folders has "Lombok by Josi". You can view this folder as slide show.
Among the other albums, you might want to view my Alaska folder. There are also few other collections of shots from Bandung, Lombok resorts etc. I believe Gemma was able to copy one photo from one of the folders. This shot was from Mangsit beach showing Ida's husband preparing a grilled fish from the morning catch.
Josi
PS for Gemma: I decided to go my route because of Karen's comment about use of photos taking up space in "Lombok Lovers".

That's okay Josi. Using webshots or Photobucket is what I have done too for forums. But as I also use Picasa it would be easier if the links from there worked. I did try playing around using the code in the webshots link and replaing the url with a picasa url but no joy. If anyone can figure it out I would be grateful.

Ohhh how I miss Dayah's massages ('Ida' in your album). So did you get to eat the fish Seni was cooking? With plenty of sambal, sedikit pedas?
This photo uploaded from Josi's album is of our boat driver Mun (smoking) with his wife Sapinah and one of his children, and the other guy is her brother-in-law who is married to her sister. In 2007 Mun bought the boat from us - the boat is called Kura Kura and takes tourists to the Gilis from Mangsit beach.
And this photo I did through 'host an image' which as far as I can see is how you do it if you have a jpg on your computer. Click Host an Image icon (about half way across the icons. Browse to the file. Click on Host it
Copy the image URL and paste here
Voila! This is Mun's boat posted from my computer.
Gemma, as far as I know Picasa doesn't give you the path to the photo if you put it up on an album. Wouldn't you have the jpg file on your PC and Picasa software to edit and create you albums? In that case you should be able to do something similar to what I described above with Host an Image.

An advantage of staying at Holiday Resort is you can walk to the home of Seni and Dayah. Seni served grilled fish breakfast couple of times with sambal and "Kopi Lombok".
Dayah and Sapinah had tacit understandings of whose turn it was to give the daily massage in the mornings. During my last day of 2007 visit Dayah packed a large tin with fried "tempe" (bean sprout). Dayah was a good translator when I couldn't communicate beyond a certain limit with Sapinah using bahasa. Last year I couldn't visit them much because of my stay at The Beach Club but Dayah served succulent mangoes.
Sapinah was very happy when I took her and her daughter to Holiday Resort grounds to shoot some photos against excellent backdrops. Dayah was happy with the photos of her baby son.
Lot of nice memories.

It took quite a while for your photo to come up Gemma - I originally wrote here that I could only see code, but now I can see the photo. Must be the size. You might be able to put restrictions on the forum as to the size of the photo you can post otherwise you may use up your allocated storage space with too many big images.
The locals are very good at sharing the available business around, taking turns with massages etc. I used to go along with massage sharing, but no longer do as I really do prefer Dayah's massage, she is the only one who can fix things when they need fixing! Dayah is the most 'qualified' (for want of a better word) and is the one that all the locals go to if they have a real problem. So now they all know that I will only use Dayah for massage and don't try to sway me otherwise anymore. What Pak Dam's istri wants, Pak Dam's istri gets.

For video you click on the video button, just left before AA in the toolbar, and then from the youtube link copy the "embed" code supplied by youtube , for example this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDIRgyVoszE and the code inside the box with this

Well 99% of tourists stay inside Gili-Sengigi-Rinjani and have usually less than 4 days in time for all Lombok so...
And Gili Lampu Hotel, managed 100% by Sasak people, need some business ! Always very quite when I go there !!
Anyway you are right of course!... myself I keep one place secret in Lombok

I've had a look at Matahari Inn, down the road from the harbour, but can you give some more information on Gili Lampu hotel? Last time I asked while over that way they told me it was closed.

Matahari Inn is definitely closed ! Wife and husband separate !
Gili Lampu Hotel is on the beach, just at the departure of the small boats to Lampu. There is a big panel GILI LAMPU on the road, 20km north from Labuan Lombok (place is near Lubuan Pandan)
Very good food and cheap, bungalows are around 80.000 if I remember well and boss take time to give informations. Gili Lampu / Pentangan are much better than Gili Sulat/ Lawang more north.
Half day trip to Lampu is little expensive around 300.000 (around, because I don't have a good memory about prices...) and of course this amount can be shared into several people.

Matahari closed?! what a shame - I did see it up for sale a while back. That would make Gili Lampu hotel the only hotel in the area, right? Is it fairly new? I don't recall a hotel where you describe going back 3 or 4 years.

I think so but it may change soon because I have heard about new investors coming in the area. Many lands for sale there, and the boss of hotel told us that the neighbour land for sale (quite expensive). In february 2008 we drived all the area by motorcycle and did not find any hotel more north than Gili Lampu. I think Gili Lampu Hotel is quite old... sorry I don't have photos, I never take photos of hotels

I think I know the place you mean - on the left side of the road if you are facing the water? It was 'closed' when I went there a few years ago, and Matahari was booked out with a group - which was a real pain as there are no other hotels in the area.
