Wet season surf options?

Any information on where to surf during October, November, December, January? I understand the wind is more from the north so I guess Outside Grupuk, Segar reef and Air Guling would be offshore?
Is the surfing around Kuta crowded at this time of the year? Is there swell at this time of year?
Is tourism itself crowded at this time of year?
Any information greatly appreciated.

Hello Josh, You have it about right regarding wind and spots in the wet season. As you would think, it is less crowded in the wet season. Still popular with the Japanese surfers but there may be less of then due to the problems they are experiencing. Like most places in the off season, you can wait through long flat swells but if you are lucky you can score good uncrowded surf. Lodging prices are lower this time of year. My thought is that like in the dry season Bali has more options, more swell, and more crowds. You are just as likely to sit through 2 weeks of small/flat surf as you are to score good waves. Probable more likely.

Thanks heaps, good to get some confirmation because there is conflicting wind and swell reports all over the web. Some say its onshore all wet season, some say its offshore more often.
Well I guess come mid October I will find out for myself!

October is very much a transitional month. There can be light variable winds and still good possibility of swell. Opens up alot of options, some of which are not so widely surfed therefore less crowded. Have fun.
