water drilling

hi,

new to the forum. planing on building a house in lombok timur and know that water access is not available in this area. looking into local government plans at the moment but I also try to find a water drilling company to get more information regarding drilling well on the land. has anyone got any experience with well drilling? costs? time frame? etc. have not invested in the land yet...have to be certain that I can solve the water supply first.

You may not need a drilling company. Check your neighbours wells and see how deep they are. Our well as well as all those in our village are hand dug. You pay a per meter fee.

thanks for quick reply! this is a beach plot and I think it will be hard to dig by hand on this plot, its on a cliff with slopes down to the beach. we are going to check the nearest well for % of salt in the water. the plot is in ekas area and I have heard that water can be a problem there. before going further with the land I want to know what options I have and investigate costs that are associated with the different alternatives.

Just a note to say "Hi" to a neighbour. I've got a piece in Lombok Timor and do hope we could stay in touch.
Towards your post, I 'heard' from locals there that it could be in the range of 45m to 80m for drilling... with no possible assuarances on water quality.
Obviously a gamble trying it so close to the sea where water tables could easily be high in alkaline levels.... of course.... it you hit the jackpot...
great payoffs in terms of much reduced stress for the years ahead.
