any advice for newbie?

hi all- new to lombok forum- and hoping to get lots of advice from all of you who know lombok- i have been to bali many times the past 10 years and REALLY want to head over to lombok next year.
I have tried reading up but personal advice is always helpful- we are in our 40's and will have 16 year old with us- where to stay? we like to be near restaurants, centre, etc, but i like to get my sleep at night! A nice pool and swimming beach is a must! i like to snorkel also- any recommendations for accom/ restaurants, and activities greatly appreciated! Also, do i go gilli T as well, or is lombok enough for my first time visit- will have a week- accom up to $150 for 3-4 of us if possble- i would prefer to boat over- who to go with? thanks all in advance for any help! im sure ill drive you nuts by next year! - helen
