Although Nyepi - The Day of Silence is strictly observed in Bali and many tourists head over to Lombok at this time to avoid the restrictions, the Balinese on Lombok also observe it within their kampungs. The Ogoh Ogoh parade is also held in Lombok on the eve of Nyepi. This is a parade of giant papier mache effigies, meant to represent evil spirits (although these days you often find the likes of Spongebob and Ipin & Upin thrown in for good measure)
Nyepi falls on March 5th this year and the Ogoh Ogoh parade will take place on March 4th in Cakra, departing Jalan Pejanggik at 3pm.
