Those annoying ads on this forum

Does anyone know of a way to get those annoying ads not to come up on this board? I realise they are probably how it get's paid for, but they are so distracting. Right now I've got one saying "No Joke! Your (sic) are the 999,999 visitor! You might be the EXCLUSIV (sic) winner of one of the following prices (sic) : Apple iMac - Apple iPhone - Apple iPad.
If selected, click here " and then a hyperlink

Of course I would give up using the internet before I ever clicked on one of those stupid ads, but this one, and many like it have a flashing banner that is bad enough to trigger an apoplectic fit. I joke you not.

And surely if businesses are desperate enough to put up ads like this, they could at least use correct grammar and spelling?

Ah well, whinge over. But if anyone does know how to get rid of them....

Sorry about them. They only started appearing fairly recently. I guess freeforum.com need to make some money out of advertising. I just ignore theem and dont even notice what they are for - try and do the same. Much as I would love to have the forum somewhere where I have more control unfortunately I am not in a position to do so

I believe the ads are originating from your service provider and you may be able to block some of them.

Right now there is one ad by Sprint a US telecommunications provider. I doubt you will see that.

But like Gemma manage to ignore them. Tried blocking them through my server but they are already blocked!

Hi Josi, they are not originating from the service provider. My service provider doesn't have any advertising originating from it. But they are determining a location based on your IP, which of course does originate from your ISP.
