Alcohol buying in Lombok

Hello,

We are in Lombok (Senggigi) for Christmas and appreciate the muslim culture but are missing a glass of wine. Is there anywhere nearby that sells bottles of wine (thinking supermarkets rather than expensive hotels as we are on a budget), or spirits?

We went to Rubys Supermarket in Mataram and nothing there.


Any help would be greatly appreciated

Good luck with buying wine in Lombok, except at a restaurant,bar,club, hotel etc, And it will never be what would be considered a reasonable price, given the taxes on 'luxury imported items'.

Beer, of course, can be bought.
Spirits is a bit like wine.
If you are interested in local Arak ( of the safe non-lethal variety), you should contact cabehmerah! here on Lombok lovers.

But I am far from the epicurean delights of Sengiggi, so locals there might have a better perspective!

There is a warung next to the Perama office in Mataram that sells alcohol. I was there yesterday with some guests that were hoping to pick up some wine for Xmas too. However as in Bali the new taxes make imported wine very expensive - I didnt see what wine it was they had but they were asking Rp350,000 per bottle. So the guests and me opted for a half bottle of vodka each which were priced at Rp75,000 which is about Rp25,000 less than we pay here in Kuta.

There is another supplier of alcohol and imported goods near the bird market in Mataram. I dont know the name of the road and it is not signposted or anything so you would have to go with someone who knows it. I have bought the 1.5 litre bottles of wine there before for Xmas but pre the tax increases.

Wine can also be bought at Marina Senggigi if they have stock, not sure of the prices though.

Gemma has right,it,s near the bird market,you must cross the bridge and than it,s on the left side.It,s difficult to find but it,s named U.D Marina.Almost the most of the Sengiggi hotels buy there liquore overthere.Ask a taxi driver.I know where it is but to difficult to explain.No sign outside.
