Rumors are float in Queensland that a major investor from Jakarta is planning to create a Bali-in-Australia somewhere between Geraldton and Kalgoorlie/Boulder.
This investor is reported to have had a private meeting with the new Prime Minister who has promised all help. This new resort will be open to only non-Aussies except the workers who will be providing tourist services.
When an opposition MP raised objection to this proposal, the Prime Minister lectured the MP that the balance of payments has been completely distorted. She wants to regain all the outflow of dollars to rupiahs. The MP left her office speechless.
The investor has received assurances that he can import Bintang from Java, plecing from Lombok, and even arac from Bali.
The catalyst for all of these is a recent visitor from Perth who threatened to settle down in Lombok. The Prime Minister intervened at the right moment and the project has gone beyond the conceptual stage to blue prints.
