Hi Tom

I actually heard about an increase in Lombok and NTB before there was any talk about an increase in Bali.

My nephew from Kuta has been admitted to hospital this afternoon with confirmed Typhoid and suspected Dengue. We should know shortly about the dengue. I havent heard of anyone else I personally know having dengue this season though.

well as typical with here a lot of misionformation.

First of all it isnt my nephew that is in hospital but my neice.... I made the assumption it was one forgetting my niece of the same name (Ketut) was also working in Kuta.

And the next one is she had Typhiod not Typhus. And a day on the tratement is alreay working and shes getib over that but she is still being monitored for the dengue.

So yes. Be careful and get what jabs you can!

I'm glad to hear "ketut" is feeling better. Balinese names can be so confusing. As I'm sure you already know better than I.

Hi Gemma
What is the difference between Typhiod and Typhus?
Some of my family get something they call 'tipis' from time to time, and I think it is associated with rat droppings.

Typhoid is spread through bad hygiene and contaminating food or water.

Typhus - there are three types - two of which are spread through rat fleas, the other through human lice.

Typhoid is also known as Salmonella typhi - which may be what your family have had.
