Info from Bali Life Foundation - contact me if you would like the pdf version.

Bali Life Foundation

is committed to rescuing children and raising them to have HOPE PURPOSE &
DIGNITY by supporting them in their basic needs in a loving family environment.
Founded by Brad & Siska Little. Brad is a landscape Gardner from Australia
and has been in Indonesia eight years doing social/charitable work. His wife
Siska is from Sumatra and they were married in 2004 after she finished doing
her Business Degree. They have two daughters Caley 4 & Indah 2.

How it all began

Bali Life began when Brad met a nine year old boy living on
the streets of Kuta, begging for money. They got to know each other and the boy
asked Brad if he could move in with him and start going back to school. Siska
was pregnant at the time with their first baby and they felt that it was unwise
to take this young boy in. Brad met the boy again and had to explain the
situation, this left Brad & Siska with a real desire within their hearts to
do something more tangible for the street children of Bali, Indonesia. As a
result Brad & Siska now run an eight bedroom house in south Bali which is
fully staffed by Indonesia workers, taking in children who need love, care and
a place to call home & family. Sadly to this day Brad has not found this
young boy to tell him about Bali Life Children’s Home. But this legacy means
that now many other children in need have been given a hope and a future and a
family that loves and protects them.

The Bali Life Vision

To provide a loving home full of life for
orphaned abandoned and rejected children of all faiths.

To provide physical, spiritual and emotional
guidance, as well as education to the Children of Bali Life. Empowering them to
become independent, responsible and successful citizens who can influence
change in their own community, in Bali, in the nation of Indonesia and
throughout the world.

To reach out to the broader community through
social programmes and training initiatives – to set an example to those around
us through the sustainability and environmental consideration of our methods.

Current Projects

Our current facility is at capacity with 21 children in our care and four
full time staff. We constantly have to turn children in desperate need away
because our current building is not able to take more children in. Bali Life
Foundation currently owns 3000m2 of land and has plans to build the following:

Childrens Home - A purpose built home for our children which will
be a much bigger

than the facility we currently rent, with enough room to house up to 60
children plus staff.

Center -
This will be used to enhance the workshop programme that already
operates (see below) with additional training in sustainable technology and
recycling e.g. hydroponics and aquaponics (fish farming).

Centre -
This will be used for community
events and will also allow us to offer the training workshops to the wider community.

We have set up
workshops to equip the children with life-enhancing practical skills and
knowledge that

also aim to improve
their future employability. They include: English, IT, farming, cookery, craft,

and traditional
Balinese dance.

In order to improve
our sustainability we use a large proportion of our site for the farming of
fruit and

vegetables such as
chilis, cucumber, papaya, cassava. We also have a chicken farm where our aim is
to provide an egg a day for each of the children in our care.

Local Partners

We have linked with
local partners such as the Alila resort who donate basic food stuffs to the orphanage
and who we also partner with for our recycling programme.

Street kids

Due to our current
house being full we have had to pull back from some of the work we were engaged
with on the streets of Kuta. However, we still remain a major supplier of
clothes for street kids and once our new building is complete, the doors will
open again for many more street kids to start a new life with us. We also seek to
set up a more permanent base in Kuta where kids can come and go to recieve
counselling, clothes, food and a place to sleep. This program will allow us to
identify the children whose circumstances are such that they really need a
place in BaliLife Children’s Home.
