bread in Lombok

Well here's an odd question. Does anyone know where to get whole wheat bread in Lombok. L think it's a ;ongshot but worth asking. My son loves his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and I'd like him to get the most nutrition possible. Thanks, Tom

You can buy decent bread at Asmara Restaurant in Senggigi. That´s where I used to buy my bread while living in Lombok .

You can buy differnt types of bread, also ready sliced in Hero Supermarked in The Lombok Mall.
In Senggigi supermarked they sell bread. In Taman restauran, the delicatessen shop You can buy
freshly baked rolls and cakes.

Teach the kid to enjoy all the good local items.

Certainly you can go to a bakery in Sengiggi or the breakfast bar in places like Holiday Resort in Mangsitt you and get all kinds of bread.

Here is an opportunity for you to expose your kid to the "tempe", all kinds of fruits, the different kinds of "kacang" etc. You will get lot of resistance but you can always dare him.

Teach him how to leave USA behind when he is in Lombok.

When I first moved to Lombok, I craved good whole-wheat bread - which you can't get in Supermarkets there. The only bread in the supermarkets is the awful, slighly sweet white stuff. After a time I stopped craving, and the side benefit was I also lost weight.

In addition to Asmara, there is a 'bakery' at the Tamarin that does good whole-wheat bread, catering for the villa market. Very nice, and around AUD 4-5 per loaf.
There is also a place in Batu Bolong that does good whole-wheat bread, sorry can't remember the name. Wayan Cafe or something? it is not on the beach side. Set back from the road a bit.

I do recall once, I just had to have some fresh bread, butter and vegemite (probably the equivelant of a week's food budget of local food). I spent a fortune on said ingredients. Had one slice and went back for another, but the ants had got to it before me. My Rp 30,000 loaf of bread was riddled with thousands of tiny ants. . I chucked the lot. Not much use for butter an vegemite in Lombok without the bread to put it on!

thanks for all the replies. the bread is more for the shirt term transition. he's only 2 and thin. a picky eater. his mom is sasak and i'm bule. he is in the village with his mom and family. i'm in the usa. i'm sure he'll adjust eventually. i just worry a bit that's all. thanks for the help. tom

It took me a long time to get used to the sweeter bread but it does work well with peanut butter and jelly
