visiting Lombok for 2 days....what to do?

Hi, we are visiting Gili T for 4-5 days and then will make our way to Lombok for our last 2-3 days.
What are the must see things to do? We will dive in Gili T so we do not need to do that.
Where should we stay? (budget $75-125US).

I suppose Gemma or Freogirl will comment about "must see" items in Lombok.

Looking at your budget, I would think you would get a comfortable (A/C with breakfast) accommodation for no more than $50. Then you can rent a car with a Driver and explore Lombok. In the evenings you can have a choice of restaurants in Sengiggi as well as go to the clubs with ear splitting music. With a car you can visit Kuta to enjoy the pristine beaches. If you have a car, you can have tea and home made cakes at "Ashtahari" at an elevated place overlooking the Kuta beach. On your way to Kuta, you can visit a village where sasak weaving is on display.

Lombok is a type of place where it is entirely up to you how you want to spend the time. The environment is incidental and you are in the driver's seat to enjoy. If you spend the time from within a tourist cocoon, you will miss a lot.

Coming from Gilis, if it was me and to get the most out of three days....

Day 1) I would travel from Bangsal up to Senaru there is a trek you can do there to some water falls including Sendang Gile. Overnight in Pondonk Senaru much cheaper than your budget but it has the best views. You dont really ened aircon up here as it is quite cool. You will more likely need blankets.

Day 2) Charter a car and driver for a trip down to Kuta start early so you have plenty of time to stop off at the weaving village Sukarara or the pottery village of Penujak and the traditional sasak villages (either Sade or Rembitan). dont just let your driver drop you off in Kuta. You would probably arrive about lunch time so keep him on to take you up the hill to Ashtari for lunch- great views over Kuta and then further along the road to Mawun beach. A beautiful deserted white sand bay. If you arent all beached out head back to Kuta and out in the opposite direction to the beautiful but not as deserted beach at Tanjung Aan.

Day 3) Head up to Senggigi. For a final day time to get some shopping done, and enjoy the nightlife and convenient to the airport for your flight out the next day.
